Our Mission

To provide state-of-the-art UV imaging tools to the environmental and remote sensing community worldwide.

We are the VolcanoTech team, experts in environmental ultraviolet (UV) imaging. We are based out of the University of Sheffield (UK) comprised predominantly of the UoS School of Geography and Planning Volcanology group, with affiliated members across several other university departments and institutions worldwide. We develop Raspberry Pi driven UV camera systems tailored towards the measurement of Sulphur Dioxide at volcanoes, for temporary and permanent monitoring installations. Our aim is to enhance access to volcanic forecasting technology for communities who need it most. However, we also take bespoke requests for other environmental UV imaging and gas sampling scenarios. We have valued partnerships and collaborations worldwide across Europe, North and South America, and Asia.

We are currently undergoing the start-up process at the University of Sheffield to bring our PiCam systems to a broader market. Making remote sensing equipment that is more affordable and accessible was what drove us to design and create our PiCams. Now we want to see that vision in action.

We believe the planet matters, so wherever possible we work with local suppliers and aim to use eco friendly packaging, keeping our carbon footprint to a minimum.
